Pull the details from an auction

Paste an auction link or a screenshot of the page and OutOfDark pulls the coin's details and photos out of it and pre-fills the form. On top of that we automatically add the auction premium based on your settings and convert any foreign currency to your default – so the acquired price is right to the penny.

Either snap the coin with your phone or pick a photo from your computer – and AI suggests on its own which coin it most likely is and where to file it in your catalog. Handy at a coin fair, while sorting through old finds and for pieces you can't yet identify yourself.

The photo is first matched against the Numista catalog. On a confident match you get the ruler, country, year, denomination, material, fineness and weight within seconds – with no longer wait on the AI.

Pre-fills everything that matters

The ruler, denomination, minted year, material, fineness, weight, diameter and catalog references all fill themselves in. Instead of copying from the auction, you just check what AI found and fine-tune the details.

Motif description and historical context

From the photos AI writes a brief description of the obverse and reverse, and from details like the ruler, year and mint it adds a few paragraphs of historical context. So your coin gets the story of the era it was born in, without you looking it up and studying it yourself.

A suggestion from your categories and dictionary

AI is given your own dictionary of rulers, materials and mints, so it suggests filing the coin into a category in your own terms. A new coin slots right in where it belongs in your system.

It pulls the certificate and price too

From the photo it recognizes an NGC or PCGS certificate, the number and the grade, and flags a TOP POP piece. From an auction screenshot it also reads the final price and pre-fills it as the acquired price – with no manual rewriting.

Everything translated into your language

Even when the source material – an auction, a catalog or a foreign-language description – is in another language, you get the suggestion and the finished result in your own. No deciphering foreign terms or translating descriptions; the coin lands in your catalog in the language you collect in.

Automatic coin cropping

Even when a screenshot has plenty of clutter around the coin – the auction site's interface, captions or a busy background – AI finds its edges, crops it to a clean square and sets it on a white background. So your catalog has tidy, consistent photos with no manual work. For a shot where the coin is on its own, the crop is easy to switch off.
